Position Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to assure the Finance Department meets is obligations to all internal and external stakeholders.  This will be achieved through the provision of timely and accurate management accounts and departmental reporting as well as the provision of external reports in the form of statutory accounts and filings and regular reports to funders such as banks, investor and INI for example.   All these deliveries to made against a backdrop of ensuring compliance with all internal SOPs and external legislation, regulation and best-practice against which we are measured.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Preparation of monthly management accounts for all Group companies and consolidated views.
  2. Preparation of monthly reporting packs to include actuals vs. forecasts, departmental analysis and forecast landing positions.
  3. Balance Sheet reconciliations and P&L analysis.
  4. Tracking of spend actual vs. budget vs. forecast and communications with departmental heads.
  5. Support the preparation of annual statutory accounts and interim financial statements.
  6. Assist with budgeting and forecasting cycles.
  7. Key internal stakeholder for 2019 ERP implementation – provide insight and recommendation into system requirements and processes.
  8. Invest NI grant claim administration.
  9. Insurance administration.
  10. Compliance and statutory returns.
  11. Assisting the FC/FD and EXCO with specific ad hoc project work.
  12. Optimise and develop the finance systems and processes.
  13. Other finance department duties as and when required.

General Education & Experience:

  1. Education – Qualified accountant CIMA, ACCA or similar.
  2. Experience – minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience.
  3. Computer and Software Knowledge and Skills – Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel. Evidenced capability in computerised accounts packages e.g. Sage.
  4. Current technical reporting knowledge – Strong technical accounting skills (with current IFRS knowledge desirable), multi-currency experience, consolidated accounts and taxation.
  5. Internal and external communications – ability to confidently engage with internal stakeholders (EXCO, Management team) and external stakeholders (Government agencies, HMRC, auditors, funding providers etc).
  6. Virtual Communication – demonstrated high-end expertise as user of video call technology and global teleconferencing.
