Principal Software Engineer  – Frontend

Position Summary:

The primary purpose of this position is to build web interfaces for internal and external stakeholders to navigate and analyze diagnostic oncology data. This is an environment where the product will be delivered as Software as a Service with a multi-tenancy approach, i.e. different users will consume different sets of data and get access to features based on what they have licensed. It’s an exciting opportunity to drive the development of this end to end. This Engineering role will focus on frontend development using CSS/SCSS and Angular 4+, but will require active involvement with our Java-based EC2 services and S3 stored resources on the Amazon Web Services cloud.

We are looking for an Engineer who is self-driven, independent, and resourceful.  Successful candidates will be flexible learning new technologies and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software applications.
  2. Create rapid, functional prototypes that confirm viability of chosen technical approaches.
  3. Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  4. Be an internal evangelist for new technologies and keep apace with developments in the industry.

General Education and Experience:

  1. Education –Bachelor’s Degree required, with preferred focus in Computer Science or equivalent
  2. Experience – 
    1. Excellent professional experience leading the development of frontend SaaS products and demonstration of skill through compelling project examples.
    2. Expert in JavaScript with experience in another language, such as but not limited to Java, Python, Scala.  Experience with TypeScript is an advantage.
    3. Comfortable building in frontend frameworks, such as but not limited to React, Angular, Polymer.
    4. Excellent knowledge of Open Source Technologies that can be leveraged
    5. Experience integrating with internal and third-party APIs
    6. Experience writing code to target different browsers
    7. Ability to navigate and debug a full stack application with initial assistance from a back end engineer.
    8. Ability to generate visualizations using the D3 JavaScript library is an advantage.
    9. Strong sense of web design, interfaces, and user experience is an advantage.
    10. Ability to implement new features for the full stack application, including server optimizations and security best practices, is an advantage.
  3. Virtual Communication – demonstrated ability to use video-call technology and global teleconferencing to ensure excellent communication across a global team.
  4. Adaptability – Comfortable learning and applying new technologies quickly.
