Diaceutics are pleased to welcome five talented MSc Data Analytics students from Queens University Belfast into global HQ at The Dataworks building in King’s Hall Life Science Park in Belfast as part of a student placement programme.
The students are carrying out machine learning and visualisation projects in a range of disease areas from Cancer to Covid and are using their knowledge of the latest algorithms and visualisation techniques that their MSc course has provided to complete their projects.
Scott Morrison, Director of Data Science at Diaceutics and Student Mentor said, “Analytics is a fast-paced industry where best practice and key methodologies are evolving constantly. Bridging the gap between commercial business and research is key for us in staying ahead of the analytics curve, bringing cutting edge research to commercial light. The students have been introduced to real life industry problems and have been empowered to solve these challenges with a fresh academic lens.”
Students participating in the Placement Programme will have the opportunity to be interviewed for a place on Diaceutics’ Data Analytics Graduate Programme. The company are currently hiring for numerous Graduate, Placement and 2022 Summer intern roles across various departments from Legal to Product Design and other Business-related roles. Diaceutics’ commitment to nurturing homegrown talent through mentorship is demonstrated through the establishment of the Student Academy, which will recruit up to 20 students each year.
“There is a large talent pool of scientific minds in universities here in Northern Ireland and beyond. The universities have done a superb job in creating a training ground for young, modern, intelligent people to advance how we are using data,” explained Peter Keeling, Chief Executive Officer.
“It is our aim at Diaceutics to collaborate, support and nurture these professionals to help to fulfil the ambition of Dataworks to become a fully collaborative space where knowledge, research and expertise can be shared to unlock the promise of Precision Medicine globally.”
